Better Geiger S2L Pre-order
The is the pre-order page for the new model S2L radiation detector. It is similar to the S2 except for having a larger and more sensitive scintillator crystal inside - 3 cm³ CsI(Tl). It is intended to be a more responsive search tool for locating radioactive items faster and further away than the normal S2, but with a tradeoff of lower maximum range (5 mSv/hr instead of 100 mSv/hr with a Cs-137 source). This is a pre-order planned to be shipped the first half of December.
Note: The image shows the original S2 but the S2L will look and feel exactly the same except for slightly different printing on the top of the case than what is shown.
As with the normal S2 the rubber shock-absorber is included and there are three optional add-ons are $30 each - waterproof case, radioactive test material (small quantity of Uranium ore in a plastic vial), and Faraday storage bag.
